Abstract:
One of the main aims of the Common Fisheries Policy (CFP) is the adoption of conservation measures to prevent the overexploitation of fish stocks and the resolution of potential conflicts between fishing and other activities. It is necessary to find solutions capable of pursuing compatibility between use and conservation of the marine environment, with a specific focus on the human activities taking place in the different areas of the coastal strip. This paper analyses the fisheries and aquaculture industry of Veneto region, which is part of the broader Mediterranean context, and it suggests an operations management model for the North Adriatic coast, in the light of the constraints imposed and the opportunities offered by the new CFP.
