Abstract:
Can the trench RICA (Réseau d'Information Comptable Agricole) be used for estimating the national values of accounting criteria measured on each of the farms belonging to the sample? In order to answer this question, 18 criteria have been estimated by various methods, and compared to their known value at the national level. It was impossible to find likely and coherent estimations of these 18 criteria together, in the sense that the differences between computed and observed values of the criteria were greater than that which could have resulted from sampling errors. This result casts a doubt upon the representative character of the RICA sample. However, the problem could perhaps have been solved by using a more suitable typology of the farm belonging to the sample.
