Les conséquences économiques de l'indemnité viagère de départ

Économie rurale, 1981, vol. 146
Abstract:
The economic impact of the policy of retirement grants for farmers (IVD) is difficult to estimate as the retirement is usually the consequence of the son taking over the farm. In order to gather information on the subject, a certain number of inquiries were carried out at two separate occasions among several hundred farmers in three departments : they consisted of 75 detailed and 225 more rapid inquiries intended to be computer-processed. The general impression left by the results is that the impact of the IVD policy is real although of limited scope. One of the reasons for the poor results is the assignee's lack of vocational training. This is an important problem in French agriculture : when French farmers are at the same technical and vocational level as the Dutch farmers, many problems will be settled.
