Abstract:
Operational since 1970, the Muda irrigation scheme and its population have been the object of considerable technological and social transformations. However, even if a sophisticated hydraulic infrastructure has been established, peasant participation to water control has remained marginal. This tends to jeorpardize not only the future of the scheme itself but also that of the territorial compromise between the Malaysian State and the Malay peasantry.
