Abstract:
This article presents an overview of the economical importance of food products with an official quality label in France and in the European Union. French wine products were studied from 1970 to 1997 and other french products from 1991 to 1997. European volumes of produced quality wine and cheese with a PDO label were studied for the year in 1997. This comparative paper shows that different development strategies are applied according to the product or the country.
