Carotene and protein contents of alfalfa as influenced by variety and certain environmental factors

Luther G. Jones, F. P. Zscheile and R. B. Griffith

Hilgardia, 1953, vol. 22, issue 6

Abstract: SAMPLING METHODS AND DRYING CONDITIONS OF ALFALFA are here critically discussed in relation to carotene and protein contents. The preferred sample for variety comparisons is a definite number of culms per plot, with the effect of sample variation minimized by use of replicates.
