A comparison of sampling methods for some arthropod populations in cotton

K. F. Byerly, A. P. Gutierrez, R. E. Jones and R. F. Luck

Hilgardia, 1978, vol. 46, issue 8

Abstract: Accurate sampling of arthropod populations in California cotton is essential to the development of integrated pest management strategies. The accuracy of the two commonly used relative sampling methods (i.e., D-vac and sweepnet) is compared to a new, more accurate whole-plant-bag sampling method (WPBS). A decision rule for WPBS is also reported.
