Repairing a fractured pipeline: improving the effectiveness of agricultural R & D in the UK

Abstract: The farming industry in the United Kingdom faces considerable challenges in playing a proportionate role in meeting increasing global food needs whilst minimising the environmental, social and economic impacts of production agriculture. To do so effectively requires the generation, promotion and uptake of new knowledge, skills and technologies. This article discusses the significant changes that are needed in order to meet these goals.
