Abstract: This study examined board characteristics and IAS 12 (income tax disclosure) of listed consumer goods firms in Nigeria. The research used an ex-post facto design. Ex-post facto research design was employed, while ten (10) consumer goods companies have been selected as the sample size of the study using the judgmental sampling technique. Between 2015 and 2024, data for this consumer goods company was collected. Analysis and hypothesis testing were achieved through descriptive statistic and correlation analysis and multiple regression analysis using e-views 9 application software. The study shows that board size does not significantly influence the income tax disclosure of quoted consumer goods companies in Nigeria. At 5% statistical significance, the study rejected the earlier mention null hypothesis and concludes that board independence impact income tax disclosure among listed consumer goods firms in Nigeria. The study showed that the presence of financial expertise on the board does not significantly impact the income tax disclosure of consumer goods firms listed in Nigeria. It is important to have ideally sized board. When an ideal board size is maintained, there will be a significant impact on disclosure of accounting policies. Other than suitably sized board, board independence is also an important matter. The independence shall not be downplayed in the setting up of board members in the organization. Their effect could be impactful. It is also important to set min standard for qualification criteria for board financial expertise.
