Revista IPecege, 2019, vol. 5, issue 1

Abstract: The aim of this study was to verify the competitiveness of Brazilian beef in the international arena and to identify the factors that affected it between 1994 and 2015. To this end, the study was divided into four specific objectives: to study the Brazilian beef production chain and its performance in the international market, identifying the main barriers to international trade of this product; to calculate competitiveness indicators, namely the Export Coefficient, market share, and Revealed Comparative Advantage Index. The results show that Brazil has overcome some weaknesses and is in a favorable position regarding the international trade of beef.
