Abstract:
The present article aimed at to characterize the pig farmers associated to the Regional Cooperative of Passos’ pig farmers, MG, according to the perception of the information value to the cost-benefit use of Information Technology (IT). This research has mixed the use of qualitative and quantitative collection of data techniques. In a first exploratory phase, semi-structured interviews were accomplished with 4 pig farmers and later 14 closed questionnaires were applied among the pig farmers associated to the cooperative. It was observed that the decision of adoption of IT is linked to the perception of the information value and to the benefit of control tools for the rural entrepreneurs in relation to the activity. The results allow a classification of the pig farmers in agreement with the value sensed by the information and to the benefits of the technological tools for administration as facilitator of the diffusion of tools of technology of information and the size of the activity in relation to the value of the cost-benefit attributed do IT.
