Ewa Matyjaszczyk

Roczniki (Annals), 2014, vol. 2014, issue 3

Abstract: Sales of plant protection products in Poland per hectare of arable land was in 2012 significantly lower than European Union (EU) average, both in terms of volume and value. The data for Poland amounted to 0.92 kg of active substance/ha or 27.7 EUR/ha with EU average respectively 1.52 kg/ha and 57.2 EUR/ha. Both in Poland and in the EU the two main groups of plant protection products on the market were herbicides and fungicides. However the share of herbicides in Poland both in the terms volume and value was more than half and fungicides about 40% of the market, while in the EU the share of fungicides was higher than in Poland, and the share of herbicides – lower. „Home and garden” plant protection products market in Poland had completely different structure with clear dominance of insecticides.
