Abstract:
Production and consumption of pork in China have a great importance not only for the internal market, but also for the functioning of the global meat sector. The purpose of this paper is to determine the structural changes in the production of pork in the Chinese economy, as well as to answer the question of whether the increasing supply of pigs will be able to guarantee self-sufficiency in the future in the field of domestic demand and allow to sale products to the third markets, or whether China will remain a net importer of pork meat. Article is a review with the elements of deductive reasoning. It uses source materials from OECD, FAO and the Department of Agriculture of the United States (USDA) and English-language literature.
