Abstract:
This paper identifies and examines the share and position of cooperative banks in bank services market in Poland within 2009-2013 as well as presents an assessment of banks effectiveness. The cooperative banks are the participants of bank services market and play very important role in Polish bank system. Their activity is tightly bound up with financing of agriculture and rural areas. The cooperative banks have the few percent share in bank services market. But as far as credits giving for non-financial entities the cooperative banks have 6,3% share in 2013. But the greatest role for cooperative banks to play and their position is strong in collecting the cash deposits by households (12,2%). The cooperative banks generated the higher level of cost but their effectiveness shaped at comparable level to commercial banks. Cooperative banks in Poland broaden the scope of services but it should be noted that during next years it is not possible to exceed more than ten percent share on bank services market.
