The Farm Credit System – An Overview on the U.S. Cooperative Banking System

Abstract:
The aim of the article was to present the cooperative banking system functioning in the United States of America. Article was related to the organizational structure of the system and basal its functions. The analysis showed that the US cooperative banks are focus on their activities on financing activities of farms and agricultural enterprises by providing them with loans. More than 85% of the loan portfolio structure of The Farm Credit System were loans in the amount not exceeding 250 thous. USD.
