Abstract:
The aim of the study was to determine the significance of environmental information for sustainable management at the local level on valuable natural areas in Lublin province. The study covered the activities of local governments and entrepreneurs. To achieve the goal a review of literature and surveys were conducted in 2013 in 30 communes of the Lublin province (Poland), characterized by the highest level of the indicator of ecological value. The study used the method of diagnostic survey with a questionnaire interview (30) addressed to the staff dealing with environmental in communes and (150) addressed to the owners/co-owners or managers of enterprises operating on the environmentally valuable areas. Taking into account social and economic significance of ecological information reported in the literature, as well as evident in the light of empirical research demand for environmental knowledge and its quite importance for shaping the competitive position of enterprises, increasing the activity of local authorities in the dissemination of ecological knowledge.
