Abstract:
The aim of the study was to identify regions with the greatest potential for the production of organic food, which is consistent with the concept of the bio-economy. The main objective of the method of research was to bring all of examined characteristics to comparable size in the range [-1; 1] (the standardised parameters). Then the standardized parameters have been summarized for all three characteristics in order to determine an aggregate measure. This way the data, allowing to compare the provinces with respect to all three features together, have been obtained. The voivodships with the greatest potential to produce organic food are the following: Zachodniopomorskie, Warmińsko-Mazurskie, Mazowieckie, Podlaskie, Lubelskie and Wielkopolskie. All these provinces in the last considered years were in the forefront in terms of area of ecological farmland, number of eco-farms, or/and the number of the eco-processing plants.
