THE IMPACT OF FINANCIAL LITERACY ON FINANCIAL INCLUSION AMONG FARMERS IN ALBANIA

Abstract: This study examines the impact of financial literacy on financial inclusion among farmers in Albania, focusing on the determinants that influence access to financial products and services in rural areas. Primary data were collected through a structured questionnaire administered to 207 farmers from two major agricultural regions, Korça and Divjaka. Descriptive statistics and an Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) multiple regression model were applied to assess the relationship between financial literacy and farmers’ access to financial services. The findings indicate a low level of financial inclusion among farmers. Financial literacy exhibits a positive and statistically significant effect on access to financial products and services, whereas agricultural experience has a statistically significant negative impact. The results confirm that financial literacy is a key determinant of financial inclusion among the farmers. Enhancing financial education and improving access to tailored financial services are essential for supporting sustainable agricultural development and farmers’ financial performance in Albania.
