RURAL REAL ESTATE MARKET IN POLAND IN THE YEARS 2015-2024

Abstract: This paper examines the real estate market in rural areas in Poland. The study aims to estimate the size of the rural real estate market, with a particular focus on the volume and structure of transactions, and to identify key trends over the period 2015-2024. The findings indicate that the rural real estate market is substantially smaller than the urban market in terms of both the number of transactions and their total value. The importance of individual market segments differs: rural areas play the smallest role in the housing segment and the largest in the undeveloped land segment. Within the rural undeveloped land segment, the share of transactions involving agricultural land has been declining. The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on the rural real estate market were clearly visible. During the first two years of the pandemic, the number and value of transactions increased sharply for both developed and undeveloped land plots. An additional factor was the relaxation of regulations governing agricultural land transactions in 2019 and 2023.
