THE ROLE OF TOURISM IN THE DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY OF A COMMUNE

Abstract: A number of actions should be undertaken to ensure the rapid development of a commune and the improvement of the lives of its inhabitants. The priorities in this respect are the following: the creation, introduction and application of a tourism development strategy and long-term promotional activities. The main aim of the article is to present the role of tourism in the development strategies of two communes: Biała Podlaska and Serock. The diagnosis and analysis conducted by the author made it possible to identify the strengths and weaknesses of the communes and to assess their promotional activities. The research methods and techniques used in the article include the analysis of documents and source materials, surveys carried out among the inhabitants of the Biala Podlaska commune and tourists visiting it, as well as SWOT analyses.
