THE ROLE OF THE INSTITUTE OF NATURAL FIBRES AND MEDICINAL PLANTS IN SHAPING THE BIOECONOMY SECTOR IN POLAND

Abstract: The European Union’s actions aim to achieve a more dynamic development and use of renewable raw materials for bio-economy produced, among others, by the agricultural sector. Such actions will allow for the rapid development of the area of the bioeconomy. They can all be reached by conducting innovative research and implementing its outcome into industrial practice. Innovative research for the development of the bioeconomy is performed by the Institute of Natural Fibres and Medicinal Plants. The paper presents and discusses the research projects carried out by the Institute on allowing the production and use of reproducible raw materials such as flax, hemp and herbal plants in various areas of the bio-economy (textiles, construction, automotive, paper industry, pharmaceutical industry, cosmetic, etc.).
