Abstract:
The smart city concept, implemented in many cities around the world, has captured the attention of theoreticians and practitioners. It has spawned various models related to service innovations, urban maturity and social participation. This article outlines the essence of the smart city concept and the spatial management process. It examines models of urban development in relation to the functional and spatial structure of cities and smart city models. The study also identifies barriers to spatial management in cities. Finally, the issue of using the smart city maturity model is addressed.
