Abstract: The EU extension has a positive impact on Polish food sector development and companies’ activity in the area of creation and launching new products. Food market increases quickly and it’s participants introduce innovations that are introduced according to global trends. Indeed, the quality and uniqueness of food assortments will determine in the nearest future the competitiveness of Polish companies and their ability to stay in the market. Currently, the most important difficulties in increasing assortment attractiveness are low investments in R&D and marketing of new products and a limited access to knowledge and experience in creation and development of food products. / Synopsis. Rozszerzenie UE stymulująco działa na rozwój polskiego sektora spożywczego, w tym na działalność przedsiębiorstw w zakresie kreowania i wprowadzania nowych produktów. Rynek żywnościowy zwiększa się szybko a rodzime przedsiębiorstwa wprowadzają innowacje, które podążają za światowymi trendami. W najbliższej przyszłości jakość i unikalność oferty asortymentowej będzie determinowała konkurencyjność polskich przedsiębiorstw i zdolność przetrwania na rynku. Obecnym ograniczeniem zwiększania atrakcyjności wyrobów są niskie inwestycje w zakresie R&D i marketingu nowych produktów, ograniczony dostęp do wiedzy oraz niewielkie doświadczenia w kreowaniu i rozwoju innowacji żywnościowych.
