Abstract: Within the framework of the paper the substitution between productivity of land and its resources was evaluated. Previous studies were conducted at the farm level, while in the paper, the problem was assessed in a sector scale, ie. with respect to the aggregate agricultural data of the EU countries. The agricultural data set of selected EU countries available in EUROSTAT was a subject of empirical illustration. The observations on the plots created the classic substitution curve, ie. in accordance with theoretical assumptions and research hypothesis. / Synopsis. W artykule poddano ocenie zależność substytucyjną między produktywnością czynnika ziemia i zasobem tego czynnika. Dotychczasowe badania prowadzone były na poziomie gospodarstwa rolnego, w artykule natomiast ujęto ten problem w skali sektorowej, tj. w odniesieniu do danych zagregowanych dla rolnictwa krajów UE. Przedmiotem ilustracji empirycznej były dane dla rolnictwa wybranych państw UE dostępne w EUROSTAT. Funkcja stanowiąca obwiednię danych empirycznych przyjmowała kształt klasycznej krzywej substytucji, tj. zgodnie z założeniami teoretycznymi i hipotezą badawczą.
