Changes in the Location of Livestock Slaughtering in New South Wales 1931-1949

Abstract: During the past nineteen years there has been a marked change in the proportion of livestock of all types, slaughtered in metropolitan, as compared with country areas. During this period there has been a continuous movement of slaughtering to country districts with the result that the proportion of livestock slaughtered in the metropolitan area is now considerably lower than it was in the early thirties. This movement has been most marked in the case of calves, but it is noticeable in all types of livestock.
