Abstract:
Strengths and opportunity areas of educational experiences in organic agriculture (OA) in Mexico were identified. A survey was administered to students and teachers participating in OA courses, to know their opinion, also a thematic content analysis was carried out using the analysis curriculum. The existing curricula of Bachelor and Master of Science on OA available on the Internet were reviewed. The results showed that there are eight courses (learning experiences) for Bachelor degree; two MSc and one Specialty. Their main focus is on agribusiness, agro-ecology, sustainability, and technical skills. The challenges that must be addressed are poverty, food security, climate change, erosion and loss of agrobiodiversity. It is concluded, that organic agriculture programs should be based on an eclectic model that responds to different scenarios and national and global challenges and leaderships.
