Abstract:
For the end of the last century, the dynamism of the global market and the presence of highly competitive business, demanded of the companies with the lowest competitiveness integrate and constitute clusters. Within this new context of economic organization, It is thought that the competitive capacity of companies, regions or states, rests in the performance of their clusters and the elements that determine its operation. This article aims to analyze the influence of performance on the competitiveness of the cluster of mezcal of the Central Valleys Region in the state of Oaxaca, with the purpose of knowing the conditions inherent in the performance that determining the competitiveness of the cluster. The life cycle theory and performance of the cluster was revised, based on the proposals by Andersson , Schwaag , Sorvik and Wise ( 2004 ) , Sölvell ( 2009 ) and De Langen ( 2004 ). It is a research type mixed, techniques were used of documentary review, observation, interviews and questionnaire. Statistical analyzes included descriptive statistics, bivariate correlation analysis and linear regression model. The hypothesis was accepted, due to the fact that there is a positive relationship and significant between the performance and competitiveness of the cluster (r=.812, p≤0.01). The results show that it is a natural cluster in growth stage, where their competitiveness remain determined by the comparative advantages it provides its local structure.
