Abstract:
Goat production is important from a socioeconomic perspective, as it provides a livelihood for low income families, making it one of the most representative productive activities in the rural communities of the Comarca Lagunera region. The state of Coahuila is the entity with the highest milk production, with 46,104,907 liters of the national total. This study is a detailed analysis of the establishment of a goat production unit using an extensive system with supplementation in the municipality of San Pedro, Coahuila. This initiative is aimed at the sustainable production of goat meat and milk. The study analyzed economic and financial aspects, including total investment, internal rate of return (IRR), and net present value (NPV). The results show that the project is economically and financially viable, with an IRR of 48% and an NPV of $769,194.04. These indicators represent a sustainable project, achieving an income of 35 cents per peso over five years.
