ANÁLISIS DE RENTABILIDAD ECONÓMICA DE TOMATE DE HOJA EN LUVIANOS, ESTADO DE MÉXICO

Abstract: Leaf tomato cultivation is a major activity in the municipality of Luvianos. In 2023, 435 hectares were planted, producing 7,939 tons with a production value of $67,835,033. The municipality of Luvianos is the largest producer of leaf tomatoes in the State of Mexico, contributing 17.6% of the state's production. Ninety-five percent of the planted area was under drip irrigation, and the rest was under seasonal conditions. This research was conducted in the spring-summer cycle of 2024 with field data from 30 surveys of leaf tomato producers in the municipality of Luvianos, State of Mexico, using intentional sampling and investment project profitability indicators. The results showed that first-year revenues were $307,500.00, with a net present value of $178,262.00, a benefit-cost ratio of 1.15, an internal rate of return of 30.64%, and an investment payback period of 2.75 years. The above data serve as the basis and evidence that leaf tomato production in the municipality of Luvianos, State of Mexico, is a profitable economic activity.
