Abstract:
The aim of this study is to investigate and measure the intensity of rural multidimensional poverty through the Fuzzy sets, having as geographic cut North and Jequitinhonha mesoregions of Minas Gerais state and its familiar farmers as target public. The methodology is based on the construction of the Multidimensional Rural Poverty Fuzzy Index and on the calculation of the weights of each dimension. As for the results, these are aligned with what Amartya Sen defends in the Capability Approach, because although the dimension referring to income and work have presented the greatest weight in the measurement of poverty, factors such as education and health also merit attention due to the greater intensity presented. Therefore, this segment should be assisted by structuring policies with constant improvements in education, health and infrastructure, in order to meet the particularities of each locality, according to the real deprivations suffered by family farmers.
