Abstract:
Genetically modified (GM) crops are produced in significant areas since 1996. year. Analyzing the investment of public and private sectors in research and development of agricultural biotechnology, with special reference to one of the most important parameters-the number and geographic distribution of field trials, the paper points to the dominant role of the private sector. Dominance of the private sector is reflected in the total investment, the implementation of field trials, as well as the number of commercial crops.
