Regulatory Reform and Competitiveness of Serbia

Abstract:
This text describes actual activities on state administration reforms, in order to increase capacities of Serbian economy. First part of paper provides comparative analysis of current position of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia on the world competitiveness lists. Competitive position of economies is evaluated from the perspective of different methodologies (Global Competitiveness Report, Global InformationTechnology Report i Doing Business Report). Measures for improvement of Serbia’s competitiveness by National Competitiveness Council and its implementations are mentioned in this paper, as well as works of Ministries which have effect on quality of business environment. The second part of this paper gives an overview of legislative reform as a measure of state intervention in the period of preparation for accession to the EU (Grey book and Comprehensive Regulatory Reform).
