Abstract:
Unemployment is one of the biggest problems of modern society. Transition to the market economy and affirmation of labour market contributed to the higher level of unemployment in Serbia which was already high enough. Unemployment problem became more obvious with global economy crisis. Namely, global economy crisis affected unemployment rate in Serbia so seriously that it reached a historical maximum of about 5 billion unemployed. Elimination or reduction of the economy crisis would certainly reduce the level of unemployment. Its reduction would be followed by intensified investments, opening of new enterprises which would lead to the more adequate social policy in the area of unemployment. Finally, the author`s conclusion is that in a prolonged period of such economy state there is a threat of slower increase of gross home products and employment, capital i.e. investments as well as an increase in trade deficit, which would affect macroeconomy stability in coming years.
