Legal principles of regulation of organic production in EU countries

Abstract: The purpose of the article is to study the EU experience in the field of organic production legal regulation and determine the direction for domestic legislation improvement on the organic sphere development. Research methodology. In the research process there have been used the following scientific methods: retrospective analysis, comparative, general scientific. Research results. Preconditions of formation of the European legislative base of organic production have been highlighted. A clear definition of the bases of production, selling, processing and labeling of organic products at the legislative level has become 124 a solid basis for the modern development of the organic market in the EU. The proper functioning of the internal market of organic products in the EU, as well as maintaining consumer confidence in products labeled as organic, ensures fair competition for organic products, which has a positive effect on market trends. A retrospective analysis of the development of domestic legislation on the formation of the organic farming in Ukraine shows that nowadays there is a stable positive trend towards the development of the organic sphere, increasing demand for organic products, deepening of consumers awareness of their useful properties and benefits. Elements of scientific novelty. The main achievements of Ukraine in the field of regional support of organic agricultural production have been determined. The prospects of the organic production sphere for the socio-economic and ecological development of Ukraine have been proved, provided that a full-fledged mechanism for its legal regulation must be created. Organic agriculture, with significant potential for economic, social and environmental development of the environment, will promote the integrated rural development and improve the health of people. Practical significance. The potential benefits of forming an effective legal and regulatory framework for the domestic organic sphere at all levels of management have been shown, namely: increasing the profitability of agricultural producers, expanding the export potential, strengthening the Ukrainian image of supplier of high-quality products, improving the overall level of food security in the state and health of people.
