La eficiencia técnica de riego: Análisis de las conexiones y la utilidad de sus diversas definiciones

Abstract: El objetivo de este trabajo es estudiar con detalle las diferentes aproximaciones a la eficiencia técnica de riego para plantear posibles relaciones entre ellas. El análisis de la eficiencia en los diferentes niveles considerados (parcela, sistema de riegos, cuenca, etc.), y de su interrelación permite identificar puntos en los que actuar de forma que mejore la relación entre el agua necesaria y la realmente utilizada. Dos ideas básicas atraviesan el trabajo: la necesidad de diferenciar los conceptos de consumo físico y uso, así como la importancia del análisis del funcionamiento interno de los sistemas para resaltar el papel de la reutilización como una fuente adicional de recursos. Puesto que la gestión del agua de riego es un campo necesariamente multidisciplinar, el trabajo pretende ser una contribución útil para abordar aspectos más amplios como la eficiencia económico-social y, en general, la economía del agua en el regadío.......The aim of this paper is to carry out a detail study of the different approximations that have been made to the concept of technical efficiency of irrigation in order to identify the possible linkages between them and their usefulness in water management. The analysis of the different levels in wich efficiency is calculated (i.e. at the farm, irrigation system and river basin levels) and their interrelation, allows us to identify aspects where measures can be taken to improve the ration between the volume of water required and that actually used. Two basic ideas underlie this study. First, the need to differentiate the concepts of physical consumption and use. Secondly, the importance of analysis the internal operation of the irrigation system in order to emphasise the role of reuse as an additional source of available water. Given that the management of irrigation water is necessarily a multidisciplinary field, this work tries to offer a useful contribution when addressing more broad ranging questions such as economic efficiency and the economics of water.
