The aim of this work is the establishment of the criteria of management and planning in the horticultural activity of Murcia's area. Same time, the hypothesis that the diverse structural characteristics of the agrarian farms are determining different management strategies is contrasted. From the data of a survey made to a representative sample of horticultural farmers of the Region of Murcia, a methodology of analysis in three phases is implemented. Firstly, a typology of the regional horticulture farms is carried out using a two stages cluster analysis. Secondly, the capacity of the vectors of enterprise decision is verified to explain the formation of the groupings specified in the previous phase, using the technique of discriminant analysis. Finally, using some tests of distances and differences of averages, the divergences between the criteria of decision of each one of the groups are analyzed. As a mayor conclusion, a pattern of the strategic behaviour of management for the different structural models from horticulture farms of the Region of Murcia is presented.
