Política Hidráulica e intervención estatal en España (1880-1936): una visión interdisciplinar

Abstract: El objetivo del trabajo es el de proporcionar una visión transversal desde diferentes disciplinas sobre los orígenes de una cuestión fundamental que en la actualidad suscita controversias científicas y políticas de todo tipo: la creciente implicación del Estado español en el proceso de modernización agraria a través de la política de fomento a la irrigación. Para alcanzar este objetivo partimos de la caracterización del paradigma de gestión del agua durante el siglo XIX. Seguidamente, se enfatizan las repercusiones institucionales que tuvo la coyuntura de la crisis finisecular en materia de aguas y, por último, se incide en las perspectivas abiertas por la Administración estatal durante las décadas de 1920 y 1930 que no fueron retomadas, y de una forma sesgada, hasta la década de 1950...The aim of this research is to offer a sidelong vision from different disciplines on the origins of a fundamental question that arouses nowadays all kinds of political and scientific controversies: the growing implication of the Spanish state in the process of agricultural modernisation by means of a policy of irrigation support. To this effect, I shall begin by showing the paradigm of water management in the 19th century. After this, I will remark on the institutional repercussions brought about by the conjuncture of the turn-of-the-century water crisis and, finally, I shall deal with the perspectives that had been opened up by the State administration in the 1920s and 1930s and that were not taken up again, and in a biased way, until the 1950s.
