Abstract: This article highlights recent regulatory and commercial activity on food irradiation internationally and in the United States. An article that appeared in the February 1983 NATIONAL FOOD REVIEW, NFR-20, discussed the costs and benefits of irradiation, the factors affecting its economic feasibility, and possible obstacles to widespread commercial use.
