Abstract:
The poultry· and egg·sector submodel of USDA's Food and Agricultural Policy Simulator (FAPSIM) endogenously estimates supply, production, ending stocks, retail and wholesale prices, civilian consumption of chicken, turkey, and eggs, the number of layers on farms, the consumer price index for poultry, and cash receipts from marketing of poultry and eggs This article presents the model's structure, parameter estimates, and validation statistics The model predicts that a 200IDllhon-pound increase In broiler meat exports would increase broiler prices by about 2'cents per pound
