Volunteers: Part of Rural America's Lifeblood
Thomas Stinson
Rural America/ Rural Development Perspectives, 1978, vol. 01 RDP, issue 01
Abstract:
Excerpt from the article: Volunteers contribute much to the quality of life in small-town America. Civic pride, doing one's share; and community involvement are all phrases that evoke images of busy, vital small communities where residents are working together to improve their city. But, while voluntarism has an important impact on the attitude within a community, it has distinct financial advantages as well.
