Rural Families Pay More for Housing Credit

Hughes Spurlock

Rural America/ Rural Development Perspectives, 1978, vol. 01 RDP, issue 01

Abstract: Excerpt from the article: Housing credit conditions continue to be less favorable in rural than in urban areas. Interest rates are higher, repayment periods are shorter, sizes of loans are smaller, and the ratio of purchase price to income is more conservative. Such conditions help account for the higher incidence of substandard housing in rural America.
