Building National Strategies for Rural Economic Development

Abstract: A strategic approach is needed if rural economic development policy is to make a meaningful contribution to the future of rural America. Implementing such an approach will require attributes different from those we are used to: a stick-to-itiveness, even in hard times, a better understanding of what rural America is and needs, and a willingness to cooperate with others in defining needs and proposing solutions.
