Abstract:
Good governance is a pillar of sustainable development that aligns UN goals with national and local priorities. In this context, the United Nations provides considerable support for sustainable development, its mechanisms monitoring the practices of states and recommending improvements, thus influencing the national policies whose implementation it ensures. Rules and practices are established regarding the management of a state, a territory or a city, an institution or an organization, governance being exercised in a transparent, efficient and accountable manner. By adopting a Global Framework for the Creation of a Human Rights City, local authorities and citizens have been provided with a guide to follow the standards that must be respected as a city be declared a human rights city, so that the promotion and protection of human rights become a reality at the level of local administration.
