Abstract: This academic book presentation discusses Constantin Schifirnet's 2016 volume "Tendential Modernity. Reflections about modern evolution of society" (Tritonic Publishing House), a study in eight chapters arguing for a type of modernity specific to societies with an insufficiently functioning economy, and comments from the standpoint of Romanian legal science on its chapters about elites, rural modernity and the state as an agent of modernisation.
