About a «new» economy and modernization issues of Russian industries at the present age

Abstract:
Current trends in world development testify to the ongoing transition from an economy based on the use of natural resources and capital to an «intellectual» economy based on knowledge and information. Despite the fact that the scientific community diverges in the exact definition of the term, the article gives a general characteristic that is common to all related concepts, and an attempt is made to define the term «intellectual economy». Through the prism of the characteristics and definitions of the «intellectual» economy, a retrospective and modern trends in the economic development of Russia were considered. In conclusion, the authors described the challenges facing the Russian industry and society development at the moment.
