Abstract: The R. Cantillon’s Essai sur la nature du commerce en général (1755) is considered a major work in the context of the economic literature of the European Enlightenment, and, therefore, its analytical and normative aspects have been widely studied. However, the characteristics of its international circulation, with some exceptions, like its diffusion in France and Great Britain, are less known. Taking as a starting point the available research, the article mainly focuses on three case studies to asses the reception of the Essai among the Spanish economists. KEY Classification-JEL: B11, B31
