Abstract:
There is growing attention about the roles and responsibilities of the business in society in the past two decades has turned academics’ and practitioners’. The development of an integrated ap-proach to a strategic socially responsible conduct is quite a challenge for the companies in the transition economies which are now taking up new roles and responsibilities in the society. Their ef-forts in the field of solving community problems and adhering to the welfare of the entire society vary – from the form of good citizenship or mitigation of the harmful effects from their value chain activi-ties to a transformation of the business activities and establishment of a new corporate strategy that integrates the principles of corporate social responsibility. The results vary from country to country and that there is still plenty of room for progress towards positive acting in the environment in which they operate.
