Abstract: While the programmes of Social Security are to guarantee income maintenance or income support, the condition of the disabled persons is somewhat different. Some might have become disabled due to work injury or accident or due to some other contingency during their work life. Such persons have employment related social security schemes in operation in India. However, there are majority of the disabled persons in the country who are not employed but require social protection. This Paper seeks to address the problems of those along with their social security needs and attempts to offer guidelines for policy making in social security for working class.
