Abstract:
The paper investigates the analytical consequences of the Rochdalian Principles of the cooperative firm. It shows the duality between the first order conditions of the workers’ cooperative firm and the consumers’ cooperative firm. Moreover, it analyzes issues relative to changes in productivity, imperfect competition, changes in demand and efficiency and stability of the productive process. In particular, it proves the inapplicability of conventional economic theory on indirect taxes, the efficiency of the activities of the cooperative firm and its greater stability compared to the capitalist firm.
