Abstract: This paper analyzes the post- convertibility macroeconomic experience focusing mainly on inflation and the associated policies and behaviors. We sketch briefly the macroeconomic evolution of the post-crisis period, and discuss features of the interaction between private and policy decisions. We then consider in more detail the behavior of monetary policies, and comment on the characteristics of price changes, especially in terms of the magnitude and persistence of inflation rates and the patterns of relative price changes. The concluding section includes a discussion of tradeoffs involved in the choice of macroeconomic policies and institutions for Argentina, and particularly those more closely related to the regulation of the aggregate price level.
